The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. It was established to enable the French at higher education institutions aimed at attracting top foreign international students to enroll in their masters and Ph.D. programs.
It provides an opportunity for the future student’s decision-makers of the private and public sectors, in eligible areas of study. And it also invites determined applicants who are up to 25 years old living in developing countries at the master’s level, and applicants up to 30 years old living in developing and industrialized countries at the Ph.D. level.

Level/Field(s) of study
Eligible Master’s degree programme, and Engineering programme, or a PhD programme. Any of these programmes are in partnership with a foreign higher education institution in four major fields:
- Economics and management
- Engineering sciences at the Master level. Sciences in the wide sense for the Doctorate and Ph.D. level. Also, Engineering science, exact sciences which include mathematics, physics, chemistry, and life sciences, nano and biotechnologies, earth, space and environmental science, information sciences and technology, and communication.
- Political sciences.
The scholarship is targeted at International students (from all countries).
Scholarship value/inclusions and duration
Master’s level studies: Eiffel scholarship program will grant a monthly allowance of €1,181 which is broken down as; maintenance allowance of €1,031 and a monthly stipend of €150). The duration of this program is about 12-36 months.
Ph.D. level studies: Eiffel scholarship program will grant the value of a monthly allowance of €1,400 until 31st December 2020. Then €1,700 from the 1st of January 2021. This program and grant will be awarded for a maximum of 12 months.
Furthermore, the scholarship programme requires some expenses which include an international return trip, national and local transport, health insurance, and cultural activities. Eligible candidates may also be granted an additional housing allowance, under certain conditions to be met.
The tuition fees of candidates are to be paid by the eligible candidates themselves. French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expects the educational institutions, enhanced by this program on their international influence, to ensure that the students receive the best financial support required. Students admitted to public educational institutions are, as French government scholarship holders, exempted from enrolment fees.
Nationality: This programme is invited to international candidates of non-French nationality. Candidates of two nationalities, with one of which is French, are not eligible for the scholarship program.
Age: For the master’s degree level, applying candidates are required to be of age 25 years old or less at the time of the 2020 application campaign.
Origin of applications: The program only considers and accepts applications submitted by French educational establishment. These establishments participate to enroll scholarship holders on the course for which they have been selected for. Furthermore, any applicants nominated by more than one French educational establishment will be disqualified.
Courses of study: The scholarship program is for students who desired to enroll in a master’s course, including at an engineering school, and for Ph.D. students. The Eiffel Programme does not apply to French-run master’s courses to be studied abroad. It also doesn’t apply to train under an apprenticeship contract or a professional training contract either.
Combination with other scholarships program: International foreign students who have been awarded a French government scholarship under another programme already at the time of application, will not be considered eligible.
For Eiffel Master Scholarship: No application will be accepted for any applicants who have applied previously and was rejected. Even if the application is submitted by a different establishment or in another field of study, it won’t still be accepted. Applicants who have been awarded an Eiffel scholarship at the master’s level already are not eligible to re-apply for the same master’s level.
For Eiffel Ph.D. Scholarship: French educational establishments are required to nominate an applicant who has previously been awarded an Eiffel scholarship at the master’s level for a scholarship at the Ph.D. level. Applicants who have been awarded an Eiffel scholarship before during their Ph.D. cannot be awarded for a second time.
Language skills: French educational establishment when selecting a non-French speaking applicant, must ensure that their language skills meet the requirements of the applied field of study.
Applicants cannot be applying for this scholarship program directly as it is not accepted. Applications for EIFFEL scholarships are to be submitted by French Higher Education Institutions. You must apply and meet the requirements of a French Higher Education Institution in order to be considered eligible for the scholarship program.

The deadline for the scholarship program applications to Campus France is on the 8th of January, 2021. While the scholarship application deadline to participating French Institutions is earlier and falls around the month of November to December 2020.
